Intern

Overview:
Imerman Angels is a nonprofit organization that provides 1-on-1 cancer support for cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers living anywhere in the world. We are looking for help from skilled and fun people to support our fast-paced growth and provide assistance to our staff, volunteers and executives. This position is unpaid and provides valuable work experience, references, and access to a wonderful network.

    Responsibilities

    General

    • Track and organize key constituent information
    • Support and improve general office and administrative operations
    • Contribute to social media/ electronic newsletter content
    • Increase the impact of the Imerman Angels mission through events/programs
    • Provide support for Imerman Angels events/programs

    Social Media

    • Implement strategies to increase awareness of Imerman Angels
    • Manage Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, and the Imerman Angels Blog
    • Monitor and respond to Google Alerts
    • Build and maintain relationships with supporters through social media
    • Engage with industry specific blogs and online communications
    • Establish a presence on upcoming new media software
    • Assist with content management of the website

    Marketing

    • Collaborate with graphic design staff for customized media
    • Generate and compile content for monthly and quarterly newsletters
    • Assist in drafting and distributing press releases
    • Assist in the design and strategy of integrated marketing campaigns
    • Manage the cataloging, tagging, and editing of media

    Preferred Background

    • Marketing and/or Public Relations experience or education
    • Experience with Google Sites and/or Google Apps


    Required Skills & Experience:

    • Excellent verbal, written and general computer skills (advanced use of Microsoft Excel)
    • Organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, takes inititive
    • Advanced use of social media (ie: facebook, twitter, youtube, etc..)
    • Ability to work independently with little supervision 
    • Willingness to work cooperatively with staff and volunteers 
    • Strong work ethic, a good sense of humor, a friendly personality

    Time Commitment:

    • At least 15 hours/week
    • Must have availability during business hours 9am-6pm at least 2-3 days per week
